On the subject of that other damn knight... (Destiny)

You know the one. When you enter Omnigul's final encounter building and look down that first corridor, there are two double doorways: one in front of you, and the other to the left of that front door. Through the one in front of you, across Omnigul's chamber and up a short stair to the back catwalk of the room, there's that damn yellow-health-bar Ultra Knight.

I have a question about that Knight: when he puts up his black-mirror-shield thing, can you shoot through it, regardless of weapon? I've tried it with numerous guns, and they'll shoot through his shield, but only his shield, of all the knights in the encounter. Has anyone else noticed this? It works with machine guns, scout rifles, handcannons, even the mythoclast sometimes.
