Halo 3 was a brand new game and nothing that was intended for Halo 2 even really made it in to Halo 3

Outside of the Ark, Voi and the basic premise of Halo 3, no I don't believe so. The majority of Halo 3's storyline was written and decided on after Halo 2 was released.
