So...I'm Stuck At 29? (Destiny)

I can't get any better armor, and Crota's Raid is impossible for me. The stuff I have is already maxed out, and no one is offering anything better. I thought Bungie said that we'd find what we need to level up in the Tower. But everything's the same. How can I get any further?

Through Warlock Vanguard and faction vendor (i.e. Dead Orbit), I purchased (for example) gloves and boots with max light level of 33 (versus 27 for normal Legendary stuff). I'm pretty sure these will allow me to level all the way to 30 or 31...ish.

Spent all my Vanguard and Crucible marks in a flash, with no buyer's remorse.
