How did I miss this information? :(
And while I suppose it's a beta, it'd have been nice if Bungie put a quick bit of info in the game that alluded that such invites weren't supported.
Without allowing multiple players on the same XBox, and many households having multiple generations of consoles, it seems like we can't be the first ones to try this and expect it to work...

After a few searches I did find this reference.

That really bites...

I had the opposite expectation, but if this did work I suspect we'd have heard A LOT about it by now. I don't think you can even create chat parties across generations of consoles, and that's not in Bungie's control.

Another problem I've had is negotiating the nuances between the platform's party and the game's party, and issues communicating while in different states. Last night while on the Xbox One the only way I could hear my buddy who was in a party with me was by leaving the snap party open, reducing the size of the screen. Afterwards I thought it might have something to do with the Blended Voice mode in Destiny. I'd had weird problems on a PS4 with that, too. Problems that went away when I chose headset only.

I don't really understand how blended voice mode is supposed to work. Also, if you choose speaker only, are other players' voices positioned appropriately within the surround sound space? If so, that would be pretty cool to try.
