I can finally buy a new Halo game again? Because they finally fulfilled my “take the franchise away from 343 since 343 has done everything it can to kill Halo” wish? What a great day for Halo! And then the Destiny lives announcement yesterday. And Marathon is awesome. We’re all just coming out on top right now!

I've long thought that your disappointment in Halo 4 and MCC had curdled into animus. I should hope I never disappoint you! I had my disappointments with non-Bungie Halo games, but I never stopped rooting for them. Halo 4 had some good story beats. I'm glad that the Master Chief Collection (in its current state) exists. I truly enjoyed the core content in Campaign Evolved. I can't relate to the mindset that one minute is so certain that a group of people under one moniker is incapable of delivering a game that is worthy of trying, to the next minute saying "I can't wait to play it" about a game no one knows anything about except that it will be made by a group of people under a different moniker. I continue to root for the Halo franchise, but I also have never believed that Activision had some kind of golden touch. (I used to believe that about Bungie and still believe they do "fit and finish" as well as anyone.) We will see!

Cyberpunk releases unplayable. They give mass refunds. MCC releases as a literal unplayable brick for 4 years, and they refused to let me refund. A company like that doesn’t deserve anyone’s money or rooting for. Buyer beware and all, I guess it was my fault for purchasing, but hey. Don’t worry, you’re not out here ripping me off, so I won’t be angry with you!

But for real, you can’t relitigate any of this. The #avateurwasright has been so thoroughly proven beyond a shadow of a doubt based on their population drops, sales drops, inability to deliver complete games, and on and on. You act like my disappointments with H4 and MCC somehow invalidate the truths behind what they’ve done to a once great franchise? There’s a reason Microsoft just got rid of 343. They got tired of rooting, clearly. The overwhelming sentiment online right now from Halo fans, pro Halo players, etc is overwhelming celebration. I have been rooting for Halo to have a chance. I’m glad you enjoyed H1 remake. That wasn’t the chance Halo needed, and its sales reflected it. Halo needs new life. One moniker has HISTORICALLY been incapable of delivering a game worthy of trying. I am excited to actually try what the new moniker delivers. And it may be terrible. But it will be new and fresh, and I am excited to give it a shot! :D

And if it sucks, I’ll be sure to let you know. edit: I’ll also let you know if it doesn’t suck. Figured I should mention that I wouldn’t just be telling you if I think it’s bad!
