Story and Kids (Destiny)

From the get-go, this movie is obviously going to be silly and aimed at kids.

I don't have a problem with silly, but why do "kids" shows often have nonsense stories? Look at Avatar: The Last Airbender. It had a serious story but there were plenty of kids who watched it. There were often episodes that were silly but still had good storytelling.

I think it’s because the focus group adults are assuming that’s what kids want. Like how grownups kind of instinctively speak in a child voice to kids they just met. It also might be a fear of controversy. These days we have the softest kids and most uptight parents ever. Remember “Every Damn Day”? Just imagine something like that happening on a large scale like a movie.
