Tungsten... (Destiny)
One of the major uses of Tungsten is the nozzles on rocket engines. Perhaps the mad king had a plan to escape the wave.
Of course, the wave probably wouldn't have been as massive as it seems. Unless Fundament's moons were truly massive, many times that of our own, the combined gravitational force would not have elevated the metallic hydrogen sea by much, given the massive pressure it was under.
