Why am I not earning glimmer? (Destiny)
I have noticed over the last few days that I am frequently not earning glimmer when killing yellow barred enemies. I haven't figured out what is causing the glitch but it seems to happen after I've melee'd and grenaded and supered on my Stormcaller warlock. Not that I run much anything else...
It even happens when I have Ether Seeds or equivalent active.
The latest update had no effect.
Here are a couple vids that show the issue;

Are you, by any chance, maxed out?
I've noticed I am now constantly maxed out after TTK dropped.
Not even close - that's how I noticed...

Why am I not earning glimmer?
I have noticed this too since TTK dropped. When not maxed out I do not get glimmer from yellow bars. I don't think this is a glitch, I think its a change. I get enough glimmer from my Kings Slayer ghost shell while killing Taken enemies though.
I can't figure the logic if it is a "change"...
In the first video clip I was getting glimmer from yellows (and non yellows since I had the Ether Seeds active). Then after a few minutes I stopped getting glimmer - that's when I noticed and recorded the clip. Then I went to orbit and to another location and started getting glimmer again.
I've been so glimmer poor lately that I can't level things up.
I can't figure the logic if it is a "change"...
Do you have any year 1 materials left over? You can exchange your way up to some glimmer. You can just run the old raids now that they would be a joke, and trade in the materials.

Seriously, how?
I have less than 1500 glimmer right now, and I haven't seen 5,000 or more since like two days after I finished the TTK campaign.
To be fair, I haven't done much besides the Raid in the last few weeks.
2002 glimmer before daily, 2002 after... WTF?

No enemy drops glimmer post-TTK. Use consumables.

Definitely not true...
I've had the yellows drop glimmer post TTK just as before TTK. The last few days however it has been off and on, don't know why...

Consumables Don't Work--I Have To Use Ghosts.

More data...
Went to the Cosmodrome Steppes and killed the three yellow barred hive. Got 85 glimmer each round. The Vanguard Ghost shell grants extra glimmer for hive.
Then I headed to the Rocket yard. On the way I used the Stormcaller super to kill the fallen at Dock 13. At the Rocket yard I headed straight to the back corner where the four vandals spawn. Killing the two yellow barred vandals yielded no glimmer.
After no luck with the vandals I killed the four hive in the pond. They all gave glimmer - just as if I had used a Black Wax Idol. Maybe that's because of the Ghost shell but I never noticed it before.
So I go back to the Steppes to try the three hive again. They all give glimmer. Then I switch to a different ghost shell and now they give zero glimmer.
So it seems that I only get glimmer if I use a consumable OR if have the Vanguard Ghost shell equipped - then I get glimmer from all hive. The black wax idol serves no purpose with that Ghost shell equipped.

Ghost shell?

Exclusion Zone
I haven't really been paying much attention to Glimmer drops
I did try Exclusion Zone farming last week however. Popped a Resupply Code. Got around 200 glimmer for each round, versus about 1000 before TTK. Don't have a Cabal Ghost so maybe that would make a significant difference.
Consumables work for me - sometimes.
I just used Ether seeds in the Rocket yard. All Fallen were giving glimmer just like you would expect. Then I used my super, and the Fallen stopped giving glimmer (Had 6 minutes left on the Ether seeds). Just before my super fully recharged the Fallen started dropping glimmer again. A second super use did not affect Fallen glimmer - I was still getting it, so the bit about using a super could be coincidental.
My first video shows getting no glimmer even though the Ether seeds consumable was still active - and the test I just did shows that I can get glimmer from fallen with Ether seeds. So this conclusion is that You need to use a consumable, but it may randomly become innefective.
Yes, see "More data" below...

Consumable does not stack with ghost shell
The amount of glimmer I get from Hive using the ghost does not change when I add a Black Wax Idol - and it is the same as before TTK. I think if you have the right ghost shell the consumable is useless.

Vanguard Ghost
Glimmer drops from any and all Hive targets. Between the sheer amount of Dreadnaught-related activities I partake in and the complete lack of new equipment to upgrade, I have literally dozens of glimmer items I simply am not able to turn in to the Cryptarch...
Consumable does not stack with ghost shell [Seconded]
Yeah I did this same test last weekend out of curiosity.
The ghost shells with specific enemies (Hive, etc) give the exact same bonus as the consumables, and do not stack.
Normal Acolytes around the hellmouth were giving out 5 glimmer either way (Ghost, Consumable, Ghost and Consumable.)

I can't figure the logic if it is a "change"...
I've had this happen to. Just shrugged it off. Some bug.

Same with telemetries and "extra experience" class items
Those don't stack and give the exact same experience boost as the class armor.
It seems that they basically made it so that you can only gain glimmer now if you use a ghost shell with the glimmer perk OR a consumable.

Yeah, I was saying that it might be your Shell.

I'd say it's a bug.
Possibly related to the issue where chests stopped dropping loot if you'd been in an area farming for a long time. Go to orbit and return and it should work again. Of course you lose a minute of your buff doing that... Still, I've been raking in the glimmer since TTK came out, so it's not too bad.
My new glimmer farm: Draksis. Pop an ether seed, clear the room (including the 2 yellow vandals), rocket draksis and yourself to death at the same time just like in the only exotic farming technique and repeat. you can get up to 4 house banners per clear (takes about a minute), and once every 5 minutes you should pop a 3 of coins for a chance at an exotic.
