On Friday I decided to replace the battery in my older PS4 controller. So far I'm getting around 13 hrs per charge with the lightbar set to "dim" and force feedback turned off. Here are the details if anyone's interested in upgrading:

battery upgrade

installation guide

The install took around 15 minutes, nothing too scary. Make sure the red/black wires don't touch while swapping out the white connector.

Has anyone else tried this? So far I'm loving it. Definitely worth 14$ US.

Really cool advice, but out of somewhat-rhetorical curiosity: why would you turn off force feedback?

Because longer battery life. I guess. =)

To me force feedback in integral to the experience of the game. I can't remember which platform but it turns off sometimes when the battery is low, and it's jarring. I feel disconnected from the guns.

Looks as though that battery is out of stock. Doh!

It's been a while since I did a hardware hack, you've got me tempted now. =)

Funny you should post this

I have been thinking of purchasing new batteries for mine. I replaced the thumbsticks about a month ago and was well worth it. They came from China via standard mail, so it took FOREVER. Of course at the price of 5 dollars total for 4 pair of thumbsticks, I cant really complain.

My batteries currently last about 5 hours before needing to switch controllers.
