I am the prince of all Titans once again.

I've been pretty down on my Defender lately. I pretty much won't use her in the Crucible since a Striker or Sunbreaker is almost always a better option with Supers that don't paint a big blue "aim insta-kill here for massive points" targets for the other team. But in PvE things are going good. Really good, in fact. I attribute this to a few things:

1. I'm finally getting my armor back in line. Notably, I've gotten my grenade cool down to 25 seconds.
2. I remembered that Suppression grenades can be awesome. Remember those Taken Captains spamming darkness and death everywhere? No more!
3. I got a Sword. Those suppressed Captains? Most of them seem to be equipped with swords and charge you when they can't spam ranged attacks. Sucks to be them.
4. I remembered that Ward of Dawn's Armor of Light is really really powerful. Combine it with the defense boot of a maxed Legendary Sword and I can outright tank many bosses. I killed the Cabal and Hive champions you can summon at the rear of the Cabal ship up close and personal like without taking any significant health damage. Same for Mr. Darkblade.
5. I got a year two Monte Carlo from an Exotic engram drop. I am all but invincible now as long as there are things I can punch and shoot. Right now I'm running with some year two Ruin Wings I found a few days ago, but I'm hoping to get some No Backup Plans soon to further extend my invincibly.

Now, if Bungie would only grant me some kind of Crucible buff...

Bladedancers can no longer throw their energy wave under your bubble and a Fist of Havok now has to hit you instead of throwing their energy wave under your bubble. You should be happy ;)

Heh. Stopping the Arc Burn Psions is the real win there!

As an aside, ground attacks never went under the bubble. Ward of Dawn is always a sphere meaning for the first year or so Bungie was allowing certain attacks to pass through. As if Defenders didn't have enough drawbacks in Crucible play. :/

(Really I'd be fine if it popped after four shots or one Nighthawk-ed shot but having my defense focused super be beat by several other Supers to the point that everyone inside dies just feels completely wrong to me...)

Yup, I totally agree. I'm fine if it's not indestructible and can be destroyed by supers, but with supers blowing it up and everyone inside it means it's just a big target, "aim your supers here guys!" Gee, I'd even be happy if our shields were stripped away and left vulnerable when the bubble was nova-bombed, just don't kill us all.

I am conflicted. I agree that it should protect from a nova bomb or a hulk smash AoE attack. But golden gun is hard capped at 3 kills, so subtracting 2 of those shots to pop the bubble means only 1 guy dies to my super, ever. I guess if you all stand in a straight line and I'm using keyhole, I could get more, but that's a very unlikely edge case. Anyway, I always figured the low ceiling of golden gun also accounted for the high floor when popping a bubble. Less risk for a smaller, but more reliable reward. How many hammers does it take to pop the bubble? if it's only 2, I'm gonna be sad.

Golden Gun's explosion (with no Keyhole enabled) can easily wipe an entire team in three shots. I've done it to people several times. My guess is a team "protected" by Armor of Light lose that protection instantly upon shot number two and shot three hits everyone with full force.

Oh yeah, Combustion. I run hot and cold on that one as it's in the same option column as a shorter golden gun cooldown, which is soooo good. Yeah, that's a concern if it kills everyone. I haven't had that kind of luck with it, but that's just my lack of skill and opportunity speaking, I think.

Oh, wow! I didn't know that stopped those dang darkness bubbles.

I've been wanting to get my year 2 Monte Carlo for this exact reason.

Now, if Bungie would only grant me some kind of Crucible buff...

It could be as simple as not dying when the nova bomb / striker blows up your bubble.

Yep. Got one. It's a neat perk, not using ammo on kills within the bubble, but it's the bubble being more of a death trap via Super than a protection that's the real problem. :(
