Far Cry 4 and Deals with Gold (Gaming)

by cheapLEY @, Tuesday, July 07, 2015, 16:51 (3430 days ago)

Xbox Live has a a bunch of games on sale right now.

Far Cry 4 is $24. Being out for so long, I haven't played it yet. Reviews seem good, saying it's basically more Far Cry 3 (which I had a blast with).

Also, is there anything else on that list you would recommend?

Edit: Oh, and both Destiny expansions are 25% off right now, if you haven't bought them yet for some reason.

Far Cry 4 is a great game. Solid system, got a little repititititive but its not that bad.

Plus being able to play co op with friends is awesome. The PVP is actually entertaining again. Story line is good too. I am a long time Far Cry player and this is the in the top 3 of the released

Saints Row 4, Borderlands Tales, Orange Box

Borderlands 2 is meh, pre sequel is meh. Skip Handsome collection, but Tales from the Borderlands is fantastic. Get the whole telltale thing if you can. Orange Box is amazing, but I haven't played it on console.

I'm probably going to pick up the LOTR game.

ALSO: paging Vagueness! Buy the expansions!

$14 and you get the two things. The main game is a solid horror title, but the Whistleblower DLC alone is worth the price. It changes up the game in great ways and fixes the one issue that I had with the first game (the ending). Great lore too, I hope they make a sequel (although the main story is self-contained).

State of Decay was fun too, but the lack of co-op didn't sell it for me.

And Dying Light was really fun. Basically Dead Island 2.0, but the co-op is extremely fun.

And you can't go wrong with both Walking Dead games for $25. It's almost BOGO at that price, although I'd go ahead and get the Telltale Collection ($55). All of the games are great, even if you don't follow the source material.

Shadow of Mordor was also fun, but it got a tad repetitive for me.

And if you buy the Handsome Jack collection, your last-gen saves cross over. The games are really fun and well-written, and the amount of content between the two is staggering. Borderlands 2 alone has four standalone campaign DLCs all set in new worlds...

Just overall a really great sale.

Damnit, now I need to do more math and re-evaluate this TTK:CE XBONE pre-order.

EDIT: yeah. The Cade book/emotes was worth 5 dollars and dealing with a physical disk, but I guess it's probably not worth that plus ~15 dollars. Plus this way I get the expansions on 360/XBONE simultaneously, which I value despite that never being relevant to my life so far. Plus emblems? I guess. Buhgbh. Too many choices. Thanks for posting it, though.

I might have to check this one out. I've never really played many horror games before (at least modern ones; played plenty of Silent Hill back in the day).

Shadow of Mordor was also fun, but it got a tad repetitive for me.

I'm still undecided on this one. I am a huge LotR fan, so I'm not sure I like what they're doing with the lore (especially from what I've heard about the expansion), but I suppose that can be forgive if it makes a little bit of sense and is a fun game. And that's what I'm worried about. I heard the Nemesis system is great, but the game just doesn't look like it's all that fun.

I never did finish the first Borderlands, but Borderlands 2 was one of my favorite games of last year. I was hoping Destiny would be more like it (but that's an entirely different conversation).

Haven't played the pre-sequel, so I guess I might check that out, but I'm not sure. My biggest issue is I just don't have as much time as I used to, so I have to be pretty selective.

Yeah, I highly recommend Borderlands 2. It still has my favorite villain in it. Some might not like it going through solo, it's an absolute blast if you play it with at least one other friend. I did it with two room mates and it was loads of fun. Also, the DLC's for it are pretty solid.

It is much, much better with friends, but I thought it was a blast alone, too. It's just a really solid, ridiculous shooter (and funny!). It was engaging enough to play alone, but with friends . . . it's one of (if not THE) most fun co-op game I've played.

I agree. It feels like someone was trying to spoof another game. But in reality it just the developers being themselves and not giving a hoot. And at the same time the plot is pretty darn solid.

I mean "STAIRS!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, HOW DID YOU KNOW STAIRS ARE MY GREATEST WEAKNESS!? Other than..."

Best. Line. Ever.

Damnit. You're really making me want to buy it and play BL2 again.

Claptrap is just the best. And to think, no one wanted to go to his birthday party. :(

I actually got the Handsome Jack collection when I replayed it and it was sooooo much better on XB1. It actually felt like a modern game. It just felt smooth. Not to mention you get all of the DLC's and bonus mini DLC's (Like Holiday missions, Valentines, Christmas etc...)

It was worth it. The Pre-sequel is good, but it doesn't compare (so far) to Borderlands 2.

Another shout out for State of Decay and Dying Light

by Kahzgul, Tuesday, July 07, 2015, 23:25 (3430 days ago) @ Korny

State of Decay: It's GTA meets zombie survival with a healthy dose of having the ability to go into every building, search for items, and form a community of survivors. One of my favorite games of last year. If you ever played Rebuild 2, that was basically a proof of concept for State of Decay. All DLC for SoD is fantastic, too.

Dying Light: The movement is really great in this game, as is exploration. It's much scarier at night (MUCH) and really has a good fundamental gameplay loop.

Avoid console orange box

unless you still have not played portal or HL2. In which case, get it.

But don't get it for TF2.

I only bought it to replay those games.
