Did you save Kate? i did not, and I'm wondering how the game opens and what that actually changes.

I did. I figure Max still wakes up from her nightmare about Kate except it's about Kate dying instead of being scared that she might die. There were also several people from the principal to the police officer who talked to Max about saving Kate. It'll be interesting to see what they say instead in your version of events.
