Thunderlord for sale
A lot of people will be stoked to see Xur this week!
Xur's inventory For this week actually showed up on the mobile app yesterday for a bit. Weird.

Buy all the things!
All of these are good items if you don't have them already.

I saw that too! It freaked me out.

Xûr in the app...

He's still there in the app! It doesn't tell you where he is, but it gives you a look at his stuff so you can compare stats with your current stuff. I've wondered since the beginning why we couldn't do that. Woohoo!!

That just leaves the Necrohcasm....
... and maybe some exotic armor. How do I know if I have all the armors?
Still can't buy from app

I believe....
It's 9 pieces per character. 4 heads, 2 arms, 2 chests (3 for warlock), 1 leg (none for warlock)

...that we will win! U-S-A!
Can't start that chant and not finish it.

Looks like you're correct. I'm missing a few exotic armor pieces for my alts. Back when I was strange coin poor I passed some up. Now the question is, do I really need to have every exotic, really? hmm...

Funkmon's opinion.
Buy it all.
It worth looking even if you have the items
Even though my Obsidian Mind is the light/defense level as the one for sale, the one for sale has a total stat count 13 points higher than mine. I picked it up just for that.

USA! USA! USA!
Soccer? You could have picked a more 'Murican video.

Whats your war story!
Back in my day you earned your Thunderlord through random drops and engrams. Now these new guardians get it handed to them in exchange for the strange coins they got for completing things.

It was a world cup chant...certainly doesn't beat U-S-A.
ITT We Love America.

Personally I find useful situations for almost all of them. But I am also a completest. But the warlock ones are all very good for different reasons depending on how you play, etc. Not sure about all the Hunter ones, but Titan ones are pretty good.

If you don't feel impelled to catch 'em all...
...you can skip the Arachnid. It isn't better than the Symbiote. At all. Ever.

Thunderlord was disappointing for me.
I'd rather run my Deviant Gravity or Against All Odds. But I'll admit, I was super stoked when I first got it.

I normally use Against All Odds as well, but Thunderlord has a unique combo that makes it an exotic -- field scout + lightning rounds. You'll miss a lot of those shots, but if you're in fairly close you can do lots of damage super fast.

Dude. The rolls on the exotic armors are all incredibly bad. Like, the lowest I've ever seen.

Did you fully upgrade it and use it on an Arc Burn strike?

That Obsidian mind is considerably better then the one I got

Funkmon's opinion.
Actually, the armor rolls are pretty decent this week. Not the best possible, but far from the worst.

Fully upgraded, but not used during Arc Burn. I suppose I should try it on my Titan when I nightfall before reset. I've been using Mythoclast and Gallahoorn as my exotics this week.

I misread the values in the Xur thread. Yeah, you're right they're not bad.

As someone who has every exotic... no. No you really don't lol.

It's not going to out-do your Gjallarhorn, but I do think the Thunderlord is the one gun in the game that can hold a candle to Gjallarhorn in terms of massive damage on a major target.

It wrecks...
955 per crit hit against the Archon Priest :D

Sheesh... that's better than some of my rocket launchers!

It's also better in certain situations. For example, hitting Atheon with Gjallarhorn rockets causes him to move around, making it more difficult for everyone else to land crit hits. But you can hit him with a stream of Thunderlord fire and he won't budge.
I also prefer Thunderlord against enemies who teleport (Archon Priest, Sepiks Prime) because they have a tendency to teleport out of the way of my rockets, causing me to waste heavy ammo. Easier to respond with a machine gun.

Against all odds can be comparable with the right perks, but Thunderlord is still great in the crucible. After you get your ammo, switch field scout to perfect balance, and you now have a gigantic clip and reserve with a very stable gun.
It is very good in the Abyss as well. Its hidden firefly type perk clears those thrall very well.

Yep. It's like a rapid fire One Way Ticket with a huge clip!

I like it because it was one of the first exotics shown :)

This strategy also works well with corrective measure.

I was joking with people about a "Thunderhorn" recently... maybe it already serves that role!

I love Corrective Measure... it's a great gun :)

Yes. Yes it is.
I would breath heavily as well.

NICE

Wow.
Would have been better with Super Good Advice :p
Why do I hate Against All Odds?
OK, hate is a strong word. But I've gotten it like 5-6 separate times...tried it...sharded it.
Under what context do you like to use it?
Why do I hate Against All Odds?
Mine is a headshot machine, and has the perk of finding extra ammo. It was more valuable back when heavy ammo was sparse, but it's still my go-to machine gun when I want to run an exotic in a different slot.

Under what context do you like to use it?
I use mine mostly in Crucible. Smart Drift Control plus Counterbalance makes for great stability. Hammer forged for crazy good range. Feeding frenzy for fast reloads. Its about the best roll I would have wanted on my Jolder's Hammers that I never did get.
Its funny how we all like different things. As much as I've tried, I cannot make the high ROF rifles work at all. And Red Death is an excellent weapon, but I really prefer my Time on Target or Three Little Words. Same with The Last Word, just can't make it work for me.

SGA for suppressive fire.
Me and Zero were Skirmishing on Burning Shrine and he pinned a guy in an corner of one of the middle tunnels. Just started firing and said, "Go ahead and get him." It was awesome fun, and I had never seen suppresive fire used in Destiny like that.

Situational
Use perfect balance, tap the trigger, and it acts like a scout rifle with firefly on low level enemies. Hold down the trigger to melt down the health of larger enemies. Swap to field scout for bosses, and the sped up fire rate puts out more DPS than AaO.
I run mine with ruin wings and it's pretty much a primary weapon.

Agreed it can never beat Gjallarhorn in DPS, but it has one of the highest (if not the highest) DPMs in the game. Full ammo on Thunderlord outstrips even full ammo on Gjallahorn with non-type based total damage, you just can't do that damage as fast.
Thunderlord was disappointing for me.
I don't usually run with HMG, because I primary juju or mida. I have SGA and 2 legendary RLs.
Should I buy thunderlord? I guess I'd use is the crux as I can run other primaries like strangers or TLW
Can someone tell me...
A lot of people will be stoked to see Xur this week!
What's so great about Thunderlord? I got one as a drop a long time ago (one of two total Exotic drops) and I haven't really seen the appeal (besides its look, of course). Nothing really tempts me to choose it over Icebreaker, but that might be because of the ability rolls?
Exotics have set perks

Can someone tell me...
Xenos pretty much covered it here. It just boils down to mucho damage. Also, it makes cool noises and the lightning rounds effect is entertaining.
mucho damage(o)
But is it actually worth while considering the frequency of heavy drops =\= uses of primary weapons

No doubt. I've had The Swarm forever, and nothing can knock it off it's perch - I'll give Thunderlord a shot here, but am not expecting too much. And I was so excited to get The Last Word from Xur a couple of weeks ago...but Three Little Words is so damn effective.
For all it's warts, Destiny's Crucible does support a lot of different viable play styles. There's a lot of nuance, and time/place really matters.

Yeah, all along that's been the use for that gun. I would occasionally use it in Salvage to just keep enemies from taking easy paths to our probe while it was out.

Why do I hate Against All Odds?
For what it's worth, my favorite thing about thunderbird is that it is the exotic most like the Swarm, but ATK 331. After the upgrading goes live I might switch beck to Swarm, but my swarm is void, so still useful.
