I'm actually excited for the information rollouts and the subsequent release of HoW. I'm trying to temper my expectations, but I can't see it not being better than Dark Below.
What I'm not super thrilled about is the idea of the weapon upgrading. Great in theory, but that also probably means more grind to upgrade… by tomorrow we'll know if they get it right.

That's encouraging, especially given how much of your Destiny enjoyment comes from raids.

I know what you mean. Having those upgraded items = definitely good. Having to do more stuff to get there = maybe not as great. Still, it's not like I wasn't going to be playing anyway I guess.
I wonder if it's telling that all the items shown in the recent teaser were raid items. Does that mean only raid items can upgrade? Or maybe they're just messing with us?

There will always be some kind of grind. If I didn't have anything to grind on, my enjoyment would certainly be lessened. And that constant "need" to grind forces me to play with loadouts that I might not normally play with, rounding out my skills and playstyle. I welcome the grind.

That would be interesting. I can see value there. Then again, I have a slew of exotics but enjoy the personality of the new blues that drop. There's a lot of fun stuff out there.
Personally, the opportunity to earn new gear via Osiris, or the PoE, I'm pretty excited about. But don't get me wrong. I still very much look forward to a Fallen Raid, and eventually a Cabal one somewhere down the line. It's good times, the world will stretch out a bit, hopefully equally so in the plot and universe-building departments.

Why can't you just try other weapons and playstyles? If anything, the grind gets in your way of doing what you just said you want because it keeps you from getting the weapons and skills you want to try.

It's not so much that you can't. It's just that people tend to fall into a pattern of using what they're used to, or what has worked for them before. Even people who, in theory, might like to try something new. All Mal's saying is it gives him an extra push toward trying those items. Nothing wrong with admitting that.

In the teaser, you can see a brief glimpse of what appears to be a fully upgraded 331 weapon with a new upgrade node on the left side of the screen. My guess is that node is the key to upgrading weapons. What I'm curious about is what will be needed to purchase the upgrade: glimmer and materials? Maybe a new ultra-rare, tough to obtain item (similar to how the Crux is used to upgrade Eidolon Ally)?

I doubt it would be anything that rare. That's a pretty ridiculous demand to place on players, just to continue to use an item they already had. We're not talking about getting something new here, or something that's supposed to be elusive/not available to all. I'd say the glimmer and/or purchasable item route is much more likely.

I'm leaning that way as well. Although they might go somewhere in between, like requiring a vanguard commendation or something along those lines.

Also including rep grind to buy like murmur...

Who are you and what have you done to the real Cody!

I mean, there isn't a single negative comment in the whole post. Is this a Scrooge moment? Were you visited by the ghosts of Bungie Past, Present and Future? And if so, did they look like The Marathon guy, Master Chief, and The Cryptarch?

The Cryptarch is the future Chief?

No wonder they're labeling him traitor all the time!

Wouldn't Master Chief technically be past as well? The present would be the Cryptarch and the future a giant slingshot.

What if MC was the Past, Rahool was the present...and Marathon Guy was the future? Keep dreaming, Banana.

Now with super invisible S'Pht! Of course the queen of the reef can't hold a candle to the machinations of Berhnard Strauss.

Too bad he died like a chump on the Phfor ship. I'm hoping the Queen goes out with a bang.
Like for real. I hope I can upgrade that Mythoclast!

I'm excited, too.

Deej said the myhtoclast would be frozen in time. Meaning no, it can't be upgraded.

I'm not 100% sure on this though. He said this before they announced you'd be able to upgrade Raid weapons, which until fairly recently seemed to also be unlikely to be upgradable. I'm not saying it's likely to happen, but it doesn't seem impossible (unless you have a recent post that says otherwise).

Hardly.

The Vex Mythoclast will not be bumped up to 331 Attack.
The Vex Mythoclast (while branded as an Exotic) is bound as a reward to the Vault of Glass. Thus, it shall be frozen in time. I cannot predict the future. For now, it will remain as it is… the most dreaded gun in PVP.
On the topic of Legendary VoG weapons,
[331 Attack is] only for Exotics. Our Visions of Confluences are still frozen in time. I love that gun, too. I’ll continue to beg for future solutions.
