The raid, done correctly, is required to be done fast. (Destiny)

The abyss can be soloed super fucking quick, because it's just walking, the bridge is basically a matter of flying over and being really good at killing people, the hallway is just running, Yoghurt is limited by time to only 2 minutes or something anyway, and Crota himself is also time limited by his enrage timer to something like 6 minutes. The raid itself, if done successfully, is necessarily fast.

The hardness of the raid actually comes in the punishment of teams who don't pull a perfect play. If a guy dies with the sword, the next guy now has to kill two gatekeepers. If a guy dies during Crota, the whole team could die if they can't blast the oversoul quickly enough.

But, once your team is familiar with the mechanics of the raid, it becomes easy, since the contingencies are completely planned for.

Comparing this to Vault of Ass, there are time limits on some of the things, like the Templar's enrage timer, but instead of setting time limits for you to complete tasks, ending the time at completion, which can be done easily with enough strategy, like in Crota, it sets time limits on survival. If you kill a bunch of Vex in 45 seconds, tough shit. There's some more. Don't let them get to the conflux. This requires not just a strategy like we use on Ir Yut, like a football play where we execute and it's done, but a strategy where we execute...then we have to continue execution non stop perfectly for a few minutes straight. The confluxes, templar, and oracles are like this. The gatekeeper is more like the Crota raid, where experienced teams rarely die, but is very hard for inexperienced teams since they don't have the contingencies or gameplans worked out. The opening of the gate, the maze, and Atheon don't have time limits and can go forever.

This is why most experienced teams have a harder time on Vault of Glass, I think, than Crota's End. Crota's end is a series of 30 second strategies: run, stop, kill thrall. Run, stop, kill thrall. Run, stop, kill thrall. Kill ogre, wait. Kill swordbearer, pick up sword, kill gatekeeper. Kill swordbearer, pick up sword, kill gatekeeper. Kill shrieker, avoid death blast. Kill shrieker, avoid deathblast. Lure wizard, run back, kill. Kill shrieker, avoid death blast. Kill adds, kill Ir Yut. Kill boomers, kill bridge knight, kill swordbearer. Shoot crota, smack crota, shoot crota, smack crota. Kill boomers, kill bridge knight, kill swordbearer. Shoot crota, smack crota, shoot crota, smack crota. Run underneath. Kill ogre. Kill ogre. Kill boomers, kill bridge knight, kill swordbearer. And so on.

Because the developers know the ease of execution of these 30 second plays, they limit your fuck ups by the time limits during the actual raid. If there were no time limits, the raid would be a joke. Hence, done correctly, alone (limiting the bridge time), the raid has to be done fast.
