Xbone, that is. Question: my 360 controller has the recharging battery pack; is that (plus the thing I mount it to) compatible with the Xbone controller?
Nope, 'fraid not.
The rechargeable battery pack is much smaller and snaps into the standard battery connections inside the back of the controller. As with many devices today, you recharge the battery pack via the micro-USB port on the top of the controller without needing to remove the battery or use a separate charging device.

I went with rechargeable batteries this go round. I have eight AA rechargeables, and a plastic container that holds four that I keep nearby. When four have died (Xbone or 360), I recharge those.
This was in part prompted by the fact that my much loved/hated Astros have always generated a buzz when I have an Xbox controller hooked up.

You're getting one? I'm ordering mine today. I have to do some rewiring in my game room before I can play, so maybe not this weekend.

As others have said, sadly no. But the recharging battery packs for the One are WAY better than the ones for the 360. I go several days playing 4-5 hours without having to charge it.
Thanks everyone

You mean the Xbone controller pack is much smaller etc.? Just making sure.
Sounds easy, in any case, and that I won't need to buy anything additional?

Yup. Fortune smiled upon the Phisto/Laura Palmer household.

I want the digital version of MCC. Plus I prefer the white XB1 that has Sunset Overdrive. I'm going to sell Sunset Overdrive to make up some of the difference.
Right now I need to order a new HDMI cable to run around my game room to the projector and get a switch that will allow me to use the XB1 and 360 with my ancient surround sound system. I have one picked out, just haven't ordered it.

Another good thing about the Xbone controller is that when it's plugged in it actually is a true wired controller. That wasn't the case with the 360.

Just FYI - If you don't already bought the White Sunset Overdrive Xbox, there is a 98% chance you aren't going to be able to get it unless you are willing to spend a penny or two. Suckers sold out just about everywhere day one.

i use a 10 ft usb cable
if you want regular AA batteries, i recommend eneloop. They are pricey, but they last a long time. Pro photographers use them in DSLR flashes. They last a lot longer than the energizer/duracel/everready rechargeable batteries you get in stores.

I do much the same; when I switched digital cameras after a decade, the new one goes through batteries so much less often that my octet of AAs was severe overkill. Using them in my controllers at least gives them some use before the last set discharges itself in the packages. :)
-- Steve's noticed the One's controller is slightly more battery hungry than the 360's; may be the extra force feedback motors. Shouldn't be a huge issue when using rechargeables, though.
I, too, love my Astros.
I picked up a set of four eneloop batteries and a La Crosse BC-700 recharger for my xbone controller. They are fantastic.

Dang. I was going to look for one this afternoon. Thanks for the heads up.

I bought this bad boy about 2 weeks ago after I had to leave a Raid because my stupid rechargeable packs refused to charge and my cable turned wonky.
Been playing on the first two for 2 weeks now, usually an hour or two per night.

Yeah with non-rechargeables I tend to go for quantity over quality.

I bought one of these a week before the XBONE launch. It worked great for 6-8 months, but now it's a royal pain the butt to get even one of the controllers to sit on the thing in just the right position to actually charge. Getting both of them on there is nearly impossible.
I'm guessing you've probably had better luck with yours, though ;p
