"Single action" refers to the trigger pull only performing one action: releasing the trigger.

That should read: Single action refers to the trigger pull only performing one action: releasing the hammer. I should proof read more.

That's why fanning works on single action. You're holding the trigger down and the hammer will drop every time you slap it back.
