I wonder... Do Ghosts go Rampant? (Destiny)

by Hyokin, New York, Sunday, October 05, 2014, 20:17 (3944 days ago)

Just got to the Moon again with my new character and had the thought as Ghost mentioned how he used to look up at the moon and wonder about it.

Do Ghosts go Rampant? Or are they sentient as a result of being composed of light?

What about the ghosts of rogue guardians like Dredgen Yor or the sketchy folks like Ulan-Tan?

I wonder if the Ghosts stick with them. Maybe not, since the fact the Ulan-Tan presumably died and was buried implies he couldn't come back to life.

I like the idea that they're programmed to be loyal to their Guardian regardless, slaved to them if you like. So I wouldn't say they were able to go Rampant in the traditional sense.

Ra-ra-rasputin on the other hand . . .

Rampant, or they don't think alike

I can't for the life of me find it now, but there was a Grimoire card that told the story of a Ghost that went searching for a new Guardian to bring back. It hitched a ride to Mars because it believed it would find a particularly good person there to make a Guardian. It was a rather fruitless quest, but the Ghost stayed there searching until it ran out of energy. Not exactly a logical or sane thing to do. It was told as if no other ghost had or would try this.

Ghosts also seem confined by their shell. They have great power to interact with things, but never does our ghost jump from his shell into a system, or talk as if he's inhabiting the system. That would make a Ghost's rampant qualities a bit less dangerous than traditional AIs such as Cortana.

Rasputin though... that AI has issues.

Enemies->Cabal->Ghost Fragment: Cabal

Their runty piggish eyes are too dull to see me, as long as I stay out of their defense systems. The Psions are a different matter: Too quick, too clever, throwing their minds around like hammers.

So I assume Ghosts can sense these kind of stuff going on?

I think the Psions utilize space magic in the same way Warlocks do, but maybe they also interface mentally with computer systems like in the Dust Palace strike.

Dust Palace Strike? What's that?

(I love missing out on story, especially Bungie story concerning AIs, because of platform exclusivity crap...)

It's OK, we only have 11 months to wait.

There's one card where a few Ghosts come back traumatized or some such thing after losing their Guardians in battle.
