for some reason it reminds me of marathon 2.

I think I discussed this is another post a while back, but it seems like Venus was very heavily inspired by the areas of S'pht ruins from Marathon. Although its narrative relevance probably likely looks quite different, the tower gives me serious Citadel vibes, right down to the very M2-esque textures that exist in places.
