The final BWU before launch is up! (Destiny)
Lots of emblems and such!

The final BWU before launch is up!
Is there a way to check your old forum status?
I think I only made it to Heroic.

The final BWU before launch is up!
I dunno... I was wondering the same thing...?
Heroic Strikes
...will cause me to lose my job. I am so, so looking forward to those.

Player emblems
Does Destiny still have that ridiculous thing where you can only have a certain number of emblems per character? You know, that thing that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense at all. Anyone who's kept up on all these special codes before launch is going to have a lot of emotional deletes soon. :(

The final BWU before launch is up!
I found this part to be pretty interesting:
Q. When should I expect to give the Vault of Glass a run?
The Vault of Glass can be broken into beginning on September 16th, assuming you’ve achieved level 25. This allows all of our players a week to dive into the world, start to make their Guardians and prepare for what lies behind a giant door on Venus.
Kinda nice that the "playing field" for first team to get through the raid will be kind of evened a little bit.

Player emblems
Hmmm.... Totally forgot about that, but yeah -- you could only have 9 at a time in the beta, right?

How does Bungie know you participated in Alpha Lupi?

Urk or DeeJ, read Grizzlei's post please!

Great question!

Player emblems
Can you not put them in the Vault?

Looks like the other factions got cut.
Players can choose to champion one of our three Factions (New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, or Future War Cult) in both cooperative and competitive activities. This allows them to rank up and purchase gear from a particular Faction.
Unfortunate, though understandable. Unless Osiris and Seven Seraphs are something else. I'm guessing they got the chop though.
For now?

Looks like the other factions got cut.
Well... Trials of Osiris is a thing...

I'd rather not tell you what I have in there instead.

Gah! Good point. I knew I still recognized it from somewhere!

Or 4 of the last 6 games.
The last 6 would be Oni, Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, Reach... right? How would they track Oni? Are they possibly counting Halo Wars or the Xbox version of Marathon?

You have a good point. Well Shoot.

For the Reach player emblem bar thingies, Bungie linked Marathon: Durandal through Xbox Live with your gamertag and Halo: Combat Evolved on PC through the install key. So that list would look like:
Marathon: Durandal
Halo: Combat Evolved (PC)
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo 3: ODST
Halo: Reach

I'm guessing they're counting the XBLA Marathon 2.
And what if they think you've only played 3 of their recent games but really you've played all of them... I wonder if there will be an appeals process?

And apparently it will be possible to hit level 25 by the 16th. I hope that's the case because I can't wait to start collecting and using legendary and exotic weapons.

:-(
The truth hurts. RIP strange coins..

I think I only made it to Heroic.
I'm wondering if I'm going to get mythic. I didn't have it for long, in fact I distinctly remember being surprised that I was under such a banner. A week later I was back at legendary.
Player emblems
You can store them in your Vault, and if you've stuffed a few Dregs in there and don't have room, Tyson tells me you can just go back to the special orders vendor and grab them again.
tl;dr
Tyson loves you.

So when are we going to get to hear about...
Patch 1.-Some Zeros go here-.1?
I was expecting that to be part of the update, due to the PAX panel.

Make sure to give him (and the rest of you rad peeps) one of these for us:
Urk and Tyson, you both freaking rock!
Thanks for clarifying on that! Great news! Thanks again! :D

I can feel it. It's warm and smells of Bologna.

Or I could not store them and let the Vendor keep hold of it for me in-till Bungie Day. That's what I intend to do at least based off this information.
Or 4 of the last 6 games.
I imagine they're using the Reach nameplate information, which they mentioned a long time ago that it would be held onto as "Bungie Legacy Game Data", so I caught the hint and made sure i got all my games registered for that.

There is!
I found mine: http://halo.bungie.net/Account/profile.aspx?uid=2020734
Go to this page: http://halo.bungie.net/Community/peoplefinder.aspx and search your old Bungie.net profile name. This is NOT your XBL tag.

OR
You can put in your Gamertag you used in with REACH, and under service record click "Bungie Profile". On that page, the answer will be right above "Last Active".

Yep, much easier!

Ranger Mode...
Take a modifier like Arc Burn – which increases all damage dealt by Arc Damage by 300%. If you’re a Bladedancer Hunter, you’re about to be an even more destructive force, and everyone else in your Fireteam is going to be scrambling for Arc weapons. But, if the enemies you’re facing also use Arc weapons, they will cut through you like paper.
One of my biggest peeves with upping game difficulty is that a lot of times the way this is achieved is simply by buffing the enemies up to nigh-ridiculous levels, often turning them into bullet sponges, and the Destiny Alpha was a great example of this when playing on Legend difficulty.
One of the best ways I've seen difficulty increase handled came from Ranger mode on Metro 2033 (and from the ACE Combat mod in Skyrim). In that difficulty, enemies are much more dangerous... but so are you. Every bullet begins to count against the enemies that can kill you easily, but each of those bullets can pack a far more serious punch than before. Gone is the sense of weakness and helplessness that most games frustrate you with, replaced by an empowered feeling that your skill, not repetition, can win the day.
The Heroic Strikes remind me of this in a great way, and definitely sound like my kind of thing. also, this is just one of many modifiers that will come into play; hopefully we can get our hands on some of the modifiers too, to tweak our strikes as we see fit...

How was status determined?
Thanks for the link, turns out I'm Legendary. Which is odd, because I've never posted at b-net. I registered in 2004 and linked my gamer-tag and all that fun, but I'm baffled at how I'm Legendary. Does anyone know how bungie.net status was determined?
How was status determined?
Tenure. Sucks that my account got wiped somewhere around 2006 and had to be recreated. :(
Ugh, same here.

How was status determined?
Yep, I've been around since Marathon. Had a b.net account since they were open for registration, but unfortunately for some reason got locked out of it and had to recreate in 2009.

Thanks!

Found my old profile quote
The Sentinel Beam isn't excluded from Matchmaking due to any performance concerns. It's excluded because it's ridiculous. It may as well be firing super-accelerated clowns. - Shishka
Memories.
Those emblems, though!
I think I can get one or two. That's about it. Haha.

Same thing happened to me, so it probably goes by what's frozen on the old site. But, the Heroic one looks the best out of the three, so.
(I'm just worried there won't be a real Marathon emblem. Vague "Oh, It Kinda Looks Similar-Ish" stuff is just… :-( )
preorder canceled rip bungie 1991-2014

Mythic Emblem
AWWWW YEAH!!!!
Gonna be rocking that one first.
I'm not cool enough...

I've never been one to hang about the bungie.net forums, sadly. :(

Exalted?
I jUst checked and Im listed as 'Exalted'. Where does that fit in? Is it just a lesser category than Heroic?

Exalted?
IIRC there were two components for generating the identifier; tenure (Mythic, Legendary, Heroic) and forum disciplinary record. "Exalted" meant no warnings or bans on file.
-- Steve had to bow out soon after those started, though, so he's not terribly clear on the details.
edited to add; just saw a link to the Bungiepedia article that seems to cover the issue in more detail. Looks about right, but again it's been a looong time so memory's a bit hazy on the subject.

That is a good quote.

Steve is correct!
It's a prefix that means no warnings or bans for 3 years :)
Exalted?
Oh, maybe Im looking in the wrong place then. Or maybe I'm not anything *shrug*
If the other three are based on Tenure though, I've been a member since 2007. What does that equate to?
EDIT: Looks like the specofics are unknown (according to Bungiepedia). Oh well, guess I'll find out in a couple of days.

While not exact, it seems what you mention is being done. What they have here just requires abit more planing before running in guns blazing. If we go along with the provided example, those of us who go into that match with a Bladedancer or Fist of Havok, along with Arc type weapons will be just as powerful as the possible arc wielding foes - AKA enemies are much more dangerous... but so are you.
Perhaps that's the point.

You'd think there'd be a DBO emblem....
I'd forsake all others for one of our group.
Just saying :P

That means you are smart.

Thanks, that's awesome.

That would be a bad idea.
It was bad enough when we had beta codes, and we were barraged by randoms. Posts would be made just so they cold be seen posting here for the sake of completionist greed. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Earthquakes, volcanoes, human sacrifice, and dogs and cats living together!... mass hysteria!
Yep.

Glad to help. :)

Glad to help. :)
TWO. days. too. many.

That would be a bad idea.
That's why we would set up a committee and have a test to determine if one was worthy of the emblem. Such tests could include having Wu respond to you, starting an argument with Cody about player investment that lasts for daaaaayyyyysssss, or asking for a gamertag spreadsheet.

Committee ≠ Fun.
Better idea - We lure the Vex to DBO and when the ensuing battle is over, the random the cleans the carpet. Best job earns the right to be considered by a committee to be considered by a committee.
Then we do your idea. ;)

Well, I'm good then. :)

How about a task force, then?

Mostly I just told noobs they were noobs and posted in the LASO threads.
Having an account since 2004 helped too...

I don't think that's the only way to acquire them, though

I've had an account since then, too, but my post count is tiny on bnet. Therefore, I'm not Mythic. Sigh.

How does Bungie know you participated in Alpha Lupi?
That would be "participated" as in "went here and clicked stuff", they said something while it was going about making sure you were logged in when you did that.

Looks like the other factions got cut.

Unfortunate, though understandable. Unless Osiris and Seven Seraphs are something else. I'm guessing they got the chop though. For now?
It's very unfortunate, to me the three factions we got seem to all be jerks, delusional, or both, I don't want to side with any of them. It sounds like the Vanguard is another option though, and I have no issues with them (but then I don't know anything about them).

For the Reach player emblem bar thingies, Bungie linked Marathon: Durandal through Xbox Live with your gamertag and Halo: Combat Evolved on PC through the install key. So that list would look like:Marathon: Durandal
Halo: Combat Evolved (PC)
Halo 2
Halo 3

I concur. For my main I have little desire to fly any of their simpleminded flags. It looks that for the sake of gear, I will have to do so despite my reluctance.
Based off Bungies mentioning of the "Trails of Osiris", I think it is safe to say that the other "factions" have not been cut, but simply have a different method of involvement then the direct "buy our merchandise".

DBO task force! *Background Explosion*. Seems Legit.

I pretty much concur. Also, I'm just going to hope that the Cryptarchs serve a similarly large role, considering you could do missions in Explore for them in the Beta.
Mythic Emblem
There were only around 1500 accounts that got flagged for Mythic. It will be fairly rare.

Well. With numbers like that my hopes of getting the mythic emblem has dropped significantly. Bummer.
Mythic Emblem
It does say if you ever hit it, not if you ever downgraded.
I -believe- I hit Mythic at some point, but my account says Legendary now. I'm assuming it downgraded because I stopped using Bungie.net for a while. It's really hard for me to remember, though.

Yea. That's what got my hopes up. I know I got up to mythic ONCE, which is the key word. The question I'm asking myself is, did it count or was it a glitch? It came and went really quickly. Even though it doesn't feel that way right now, I'm glad I won't have to wait long to answer this question.
Could I be 1 out of the Approx 1500 out of the +/- million(s)? For this Bungie fan, I certainly hope so.

I too was MYTHIC for awhile. Hours, days, weeks? A newbie b.net member commented on it, like it was something special. I didn't really pay much attention to it. Shortly after that, Achronos posted that he fixed something and then my Mythic turned into Exalted Legendary.
I wouldn't mind sneaking in under the Mythic bar. I was one for awhile. I think I still have that Mythic Aura about me.
