Star Wars Galactic Racer just keeps getting better. (Gaming)

I cannot stop playing Galactic Racer. Last night I finished the campaign mode for the first time. A really fun build for my speeder bike just came together and just kept improving with every post race drop. I plan to keep playing with different speeders and builds--it seems like basically any build is tons of fun in this game.

The thing that's really gripping me though, is the multiplayer mode. I've been hooked on playing the Pod Racing Tour mode, which is just a condensed six race version of the main roguelike mode. Builds don't get as crazy as they do in the single player campaign, but there's still tons of variety on offer.

It has such a great little touch that I am absolutely obsessed with. At any point before a race, you can see a list of all the other players, and you can highlight one and "mark" them. The game notifies the other player they've been marked, which often leads to them marking you back.

Last night, I started a tour and was in the lead on the final straight, only for another player to come out of nowhere and smash me into the wall right before the finish line (literally right before--my burning wreckage tumbled across the finish line in second place). Before the next race started, I marked him, and for the rest of the tour, winning the races became secondary to doing anything and everything I could to fuck up the rest of his tour. Which then led to him basically doing the same to me. It was so much fun. Having an actual rivalry develop over a six race series is just the coolest shit.

I legitimately think Galactic Racer might be the best racing game ever made. I cannot think of a single thing to point to and say "this part could be better." It's actually damn near perfect.
