I love the experimentation. (Gaming)

I've said this a few times, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself here, but I think I was really helped by spending some time with APEX between D2 and Marathon. In a Battle Royale type of game, dying 95% of the rounds is the base statistical probability. It's still fun to play anyway. The fun needs to be found in the playing moment to moment. Progression happens in your skills and map and weapon familiarity, not character or gear leveling.

Sponsored is a lot more like the Battle Royale games. You come in with (kinda) nothing and so first priority is often to find better gear. Knowing where that is likely to spawn is an advantage, but also creates risks as others know that too. The difference, is that there is character progression and so it's not as totally even a playing field, and that you can keep stuff and multiple teams can survive. Plus the social aspect of possible teaming up (no idea how common that is with sponsored, but it does seem to me happening more is Solos.)
