Just curious, I am getting Grand Theft Auto V at launch, anyone else planning on getting it? GTA Online won't be available until October 1st, but I'd love to get a group together when it does come available.

I'll definitely be getting it before Online is on. Just so I know how much before I should it, does your story campaign progress affect the Online part?

Though, first my plan is to explore Mt. Chiliad to determine its geologic origins within the context of the depicted island landscape morphology. Is it a hot spot? If it is we'd be looking for primarily mafic volcanic rocks (i.e. lava fields), Or are we looking at an uplifted core of an orogenic event? In which case we might see something more felsic and rounded, like granite. Oh oh oh, or maybe it's none of those and and it's a huge stack of sedimentary layers, just like Mount Sharp where the Curiosity rover is now!

So yeah... after I'm done with all that... multiplayer for sure :)

As far as I have been able to tell they are completely separate worlds, so I would be surprised if they affect each other.

I'm getting it, but probably not right at launch. I just dropped a lot of money on outdoor gear, so I need to wait a month for the wife to cool off before I buy more toys. ;P I'm definitely getting it for community nights. That's what I'm most excited about.

In order for me to go skydiving, the plane would have to completely break apart in flight.

You and me both! I like to stay inside the vehicle until it has come to a complete stop.

I tend to pick up Rockstar games a few months later. They're so long that I like to play them in the lull times.

But I hear it's excellent.

I am normally the same way, but I am using it to fill my personal gaming lull while waiting for my XBox One.

I say the opposite. You are right in that the stats don't tell the whole story.

I've got almost 1000 jumps and my biggest injury is a ripped hangnail.

That being said, I have known people who have died doing it. The vast majority of the people who die today in the sport do so because they made bad choices, or were pushing the limit and simply doing very dangerous things. If you are conservative and diligent about safety, I believe that you will very likely not die, and most likely escape serious injury.

If you are interested in the least bit, do it.

Almost any jump center has time limits - if you haven't jumped in 6 months, or a year in some places, they want at least a qualifier... and sometimes more. 25 years... you might as well not have a license in the first place.

Was just talking about the recent big EVE battle with a friend today in the context of Ready Player One (you've GOT to read that book, Paddy!).

I'd like to part of that once in a while, as kind of a Helm's Deep signature event. I don't know if I'd want it on a regular basis though, especially considering I'd probably die early and often.
