New trailer for D2's competitive multiplayer. (Destiny)
Looks fun.

Meh
Look at all that special/ability spam, doesn't seem fair for the players at the receiving end of these clips. Seems like the game should be more about only using primary weapons with no unusual traits and a nice slow pace.

Looks like this was fun to edit. Other then the general design of things, nothing too thrilling to me. Only thing that had me go "What is that" for a moment was the gun at 0:28.
Thanks for sharing.

I actually really liked the change of pace in music.

Looks like a Fallen grenade launcher to me.

I didn't mind it at first, but by the 5th time, just found it a distraction and obnoxious.

I was thinking shotgun, looking at it again, I think you are overall right.

Yeah, I really liked these little bits of flare. Cool and humorous.

I'm a little unhappy with the proportion of power weapon clips here. My experience with power weapons during the beta was that the average player (assuming he's doing what's best for the team) almost NEVER sees power ammo - once a game, or less. I'd rather see a montage that showed the sort of damage *I* might be doing when playing crucible (i.e. mostly regular weapons).

There was a fair amount of hand cannon and auto rifle kills I thought. Plus some finger gun kills! You don't even need primary for that.

Heavy Sniper Indeed.

That exotic looks so OP.

That's kind of like being unhappy that your burger doesn't look like the one in the commercial. Or learning the car in the commercial is 75% more expensive the model on the lot. They are going to present the best product possible knowing it isn't representative of the average/standard experience.
Our different experiences are funny though. There were plenty of times where power ammo was up and I ran all the way across the map to pick it up, or games where I felt like I was hogging it and would stand there and wait to see if anyone else would come for it...but nobody would come.

That would be fair, if I hadn't been eating the D1 burger every night for the past 3 years.

That's totally weird. I'm at a loss to explain it, even. When I was playing with friends, I left heavy for folks who were better than I was with it. When I was playing alone, there were always other teammates standing around the purple, waiting for it to drop - a couple of times I skipped it not because I wasn't willing to steal it from them, but because I didn't want anyone to get 4 kills just by dropping a Nova Bomb on our power spawn.

Dubious Volley
This was found in the D1 database at some point I believe. Looks like it'll for sure be in D2 now

Could D1 Exotics be returning?
Also I noticed while watching this that it appears that void-bro Titan at the end that uses a shield to bash someone, but is not in his super. Looks like other titan classes will get to "knee" things as well.
Edit: Yep! Just looked it up, must of missed it while looking at the second skill tree in the Beta. In the "Code of the Aggressor" section - "Shield Bash: After sprinting for a short time, use this Melee Ability to unleash a devastating Shield Bash that disorients enemies."

Meh agreed

No. I know about that.
The weapon with the alien-esk egg fins that vaporized three guardians playing supremacy.

It's to hide how slow the pvp is, seriously
Destiny PvP is not a fast paced all action pvp like CoD. But the strategy and positioning of destiny's gameplay makes for a poor 30 second ad. So how do you hide that? With lots of fast cuts and vastly overblown music. Personally, I thought the music was awful. While I enjoyed seeing the new guns and emotes, there was no real gameplay shown. That trailer gave us basically no information about the pvp at all. I wouldn't even have known that it was supposed to be competitive if the words "Competitive Multiplayer" hadn't been shown at the start, because every fight in that trailer looked like a one-sided affair.
It's hard to show someone just how tense the pvp in destiny can be in a trailer. I'm not entirely sure how I'd go about it and I do this sort of thing for a living (okay, I'd probably show a 30 second Trials match where three enemies go down right away, and the last enemy drops the protagonist's allies one by one over the course of the next 20 seconds. Then you have 5 seconds of "holy shit he could be anywhere" and a quick super to dodge to counter super to shotgun melee and the match is won. Shaxx VO: Well done! Now do that four more times, guardian. tag line: Destiny. Become Legend. All night long.). Anyway, my point is that this is hard to convey in such a short time, and I get why they did what they did. I don't like it, because I feel like a trailer should teach you something about the product rather than simply being a lot of flash, but I'm also not in charge.

The problem is that people want to see variety, and they want to see it quick. Often it does give you a false expectation of what the actual game is like (see: Bullshots), but if they showed off what the game was like 90% of the time that you aren't running into ridiculously fortunate situations, people unfamiliar with your product don't get excited.
Look at multiplayer trailers for games like R6: Siege or The Last of Us. Two of the tensest, most methodical games on the market; each multiplayer match can be over with less than 50 bullets fired... And yet, the trailers show heated firefights, people sprinting back and forth, etc. It's exciting to watch, yeah, but doing things like you see in the trailer will get you dropped instantly in the actual game. Would you prefer to watch an actual match of R6 Siege in a trailer, where a person walks around a house slowly, and then the round ends with them never having seen an enemy player? That's like 50% of the matches in R6: Siege, and that's assuming that you don't get shot in the the head two seconds after you breach your first door.
It's a tough balance between showcasing the variety in your game and the actual experience of playing the game, so most studios just opt for the "fast music and faster gameplay" route, with optional "Ubisoft player commentary" thrown in (see: Anthem). Fortunately, some games, like Titanfall 2, don't exaggerate too much, but these days, it's mostly all smoke and mirrors.

Baseball ads don't show left fielder standing for 10 mins
Accurate Destiny ad:
Postmaster screen. Take 4 items. Decrypt them. Dismantle. Back to postmaster. Take 4 items. Go to vault. Take heavy out. Put primary in. "Should I dismantle this?" log on to DIM and transfer to Hunter.

Ha!

If I had the kit, I would SO make this ad just for kicks.

Video unavailable, but I think any returning exotics would be a mistake.

Why do you think so? Wasn't the whole point that some of those guns were legends through history? Thorn, TLW... The lore of those guns was that they were relics that lasted beyond their wielders.
Personally, I hope there's something to give me that sweet sweet chaperone feel again.

Because we should be moving forward and getting new stuff. New guns to use and master. Also those two guns broke PvP!
