The neat thing about the Gold headset is that if it's drained of battery, you can simply plug it into the controller with the Aux cable and continue to use it. Sure, it'll drain the controller's battery a bit faster, but it's a good last-resort thing.
Doesn't this kill the headset's mic functionality? I remember trying this and being disappointed.
