Rubberbanding and crashing (Destiny)

I love it too! But I think they turned on rubber-banding. It's kind of nutty how much easier it is to stay with the pack this year.


Rubber banding is implemented through wider gates for those trailing behind.

If you're last, you have the widest gates and fewer people contesting for them.

I mean real, honest to god rubber-banding, where the top speed of people in back is higher than that of people in front. Uploading a video as we speak where I give the other players a 9 second head start before I even touch the controller, and then I proceed to not be very good at racing for a while, and I still get 2nd place. The gates *should* be the only system in place to help this, but the races feel far, far closer than they did last year. My buddy, IGolding, was one of the top 100 SRL players in the world last year, and his best time ever on Infinite Descent got beat by 5 seconds in one of our races last night by a guy wearing no SRL gear whatsoever and who crashed a bunch of times during the race.

There is something fishy going on.

Speaking of crashing, when you wreck your bike you come back you now come back ahead of where you died and already going full speed. This has moved me UP in the past - it's super broken.
