Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Montage [Video] (Gaming)

by CruelLEGACEY @, Toronto, Friday, November 11, 2016, 17:32 (2943 days ago)

If you're not sick of hearing me talk about Titanfall 2 yet, I put together a montage featuring some multiplayer clips I've been recording over the past couple weeks. Lots of fun moments, and I made sure to include a few longer sequences.

Hope you like it!

Seriously, the game is a never-ending series of highlight-reel moments. It's amazing. Cruel has some awesome plays here (killing 4 pilots in one life is pretty rare, in my experience, and that clip where he keeps fighting while his Titan's core is exposed... ballsy as fuck), but the game moves really, really naturally - you're going to love it and every bit of it makes you feel like a badass. Plus the matches are just strewn with AI dudes who you can mow through (or just run over with your Titan) to make you feel like an A+ badass.

Totally true. That's one of the reasons I wanted to include some longer segments in the montage; the game doesn't just give you great little moments, entire matches can feel like one amazing sequence straight out of the best action movie you've ever seen.

Here's a video of a complete match I played with Korny a few days ago. There are some great back-and-forth skirmishes. My favorite sequence starts at roughly the 8:30 mark, where I eject from my doomed Titan, land way up on a sniper perch behind an enemy camper, then jump down to street level where I land on top of an enemy Titan and destroy it by removing its core. I then jump down to a lower-level alleyway and call for a fresh Titan of my own. A moment later, a huge enemy Titan jumps down into the alley right in front of me. I dodge its melee attack, and then my Titan comes down right on top of it and destroys. It was INTENSE :D

The Map Hack is one of several selectable special abilities, like the Auto Turret that you see me placing down from time to time. If you have the Map Hack ability, you can temporarily shut down the radar of any opponents near you.

So great. God this game is fun. I don't have a vid of it, but I just played a game today where I killed three enemy titans in a row, hopped out and back to collect their cores and recharge my titan, and then tried to kill a fourth titan with my laser core, but ended up killing a stream of three pilots who all decided to jump on this guy's back at the same time. It was glorious! And then, of course, when my titan did get killed, I just ejected and kept fighting without the disappointment of being dead.

I just purchased this and Rise of the Tomb raider as per your recommendations. I don't have too much interest in the multiplayer, but am eager to try the single player. Will report back, because my review is always the best review :-p

Doom, Silence, and Final Fantasy 15 are next on the list.

This is the thing I love the most about Titanfall. Literally everything you can think of doing, you can do. I wonder if I can... Yes, yes you can.

Earlier I was being chased by a guy so I ran and hid in some tall grass. Of course, the game highlights enemy players, so that was probably stupid, right? Nope. Once you crouch in tall grass the highlight goes away. This guy and I did a little slow-mo cat and mouse around the savanna until he got me (and I could confirm in the kill-cam that he got lucky, not that he could see me).

The only thing the game is missing is, as with Titanfall 1, the ability for titans to high-five one another.

God I'm having so much fun. Sorry Destiny. I've moved on for my pvp needs.

The LStar was my favorite weapon in the campaign and it does not disappoint in PvP (though the ACOG sight is waaaay too much zoom).

Oh yeah, for you Destiny peeps... Titanfall has infinite ammo for primary weapons. It's the little things, really.

Damn that's awesome! Jeff Gerstmann put it really well when he said Titanfall 2 is just a collection of a whole bunch of great little ideas. Everything feels well thought out and smart, plus it is near-flawless when it comes to the execution. Every aspect of the game just feels slick or empowering, or satisfying or all of the above. It really is something special.

This game is insane.

Decided to play a couple of games before going to bed. During my final game, my team was trailing right from the start. With about 2 minutes to go, we started to make a really good push and gained ground to the point where it looked like we just might pull off the win. But we ran out of time and couldn't quite close the gap. Right as the epilogue begins, I go into "if I go down, I'm taking you with me" mode and wipe out almost the entire enemy team single handedly, including 3 Titan executions. I make a dash for the drop ship, use my grappling hook to hoist myself up as it is in the process of flying away, only to have it explode the moment before I reach it. I'm having these incredible "highlight reel" moments every couple of games!

I have a clip of the last minutes of a round, where things were pretty hectic, and I was able to get a couple of Titans in a single life. Lots of good stuff.

(Questions that I asked myself (and got the answer to) while playing this match:
Can I block a Titan Detonation with my flame shield? Yes.
Can a Tick hunt down a specific enemy if I throw it at him? Yes.
Can I blow up the enemy Dropship by launching a Gas Canister and detonating it the moment it lands on the ship? Well...)

I must be an idiot, because igniting the gas canisters using the firewall had never occurred to me (I always just shoot them), but using the firewall like you did is a great way to set an even larger patch of earth on fire.

Nice ending too ;)

Plus, the Canister damage stacks with Firewall; great against Titans. Scorch is one of those underrated Titans that can be used well outside of its intended role (crowd control), since all of its abilities can stack in one small area.

If you're playing the campaign on Master difficulty, Scorch will get you through some real tough times.

That's very cool. I like using Scorch, but I just recently fell into a great rhythm with Tone and haven't tried much else since then. I'll have to take Scorch out for another test run and give it a try.

I noticed in your video that you rarely use your Sonar Lock (Triangle), which gives you a near-instant lock on enemies. Figured it was some MLG trade-off strategy that you're employing, and not that you're simply forgetful or unfocused when the pressure's on.

heh, no I do use it, but it's not as effective as you think it is. You don't get an instant lock. It gives you 1 step towards achieving your lock. Normally you need to land 3 direct hits on a target for the lock to kick in. So if you launch the sonar dart and it paints a target, you just have to hit it with 2 shots to achieve lock.

Since firing the sonar takes just as much time as firing the 40mm cannon, and hits with the cannon do just as much toward achieving a lock as the sonar does while also doing damage, I find I'm usually better off just firing the 40mm as quickly and often as possible.

I typically save the sonar for 2 scenarios; when an enemy is hiding out of sight and I want to track their movements (as seen in this clip), or if I am coming up against multiple enemy Titans in a tight space. Using a sonar pulse in that situation is now a significant time saver, because I'm getting a partial lock on multiple targets at the same time, meaning I can fire my cluster missiles much sooner and more often.
