After killing Crota, does all the Hive never appear again? Does beating Skolas automatically kill every single member of the House of Wolves below him? It's been twelve months. The other events didn't even get half that time.

The big public events are one of the few things that mark the passage of time in Destiny and you want that taken away?

Yes. Because I get the same amount of Taken after killing Oryx as I did before even meeting him. At this point, time has stopped.
