Okay, played for a while this evening and got to Rank 4. Managed to pull three copies of the hand cannon (one of which has Outlaw and Small Bore!). Rewards definitely picked up after Rank 3.

Yeah, last night was pretty good. 299 gauntlets, 290 chest, 2 copies of the handcannon (the better one has outlaw and hidden hand, with smallbore as well), and a 315 ghost.

Only wish I'd made it to 5. :(

I'm at rank 3.25. So far I've had a handful of coins and crappy blues, plus one Legendary chest piece drop at 296. Sounds like things get better from 3-5, though. Fingers crossed. :)

Drop rates are much improved for legendary items across the board, as are light levels of all drops.

They start dropping at rank 2.

like... 10 times better. Almost every game I played last night, someone got a legendary. More than half of the legendary drops I saw were IB drops. Some of them were above 300 light. Lots of the blues I saw (and got) were in the 290s.

That being said, you can't get IB legendary drops until you hit rank 2 with IB, and the pool of available drops increases as you rank higher and higher.

I haven't hit 3 yet, but watching other people's drops, there were a lot of 290+ drops after every game.

I had three IB chests (283, 300, 302) drop last night while playing and I'm not at rank 3 yet. The amount of IB gear I've seen drop has been vastly improved compared to before.

I had 4 Legendary Engrams drop on Tuesday over about 5 hours, but not a single IB drop.

Edit: Derp, im not rank 3 yet.

i'm only halfway through rank 2, so i haven't gotten to the drops yet (rank 3). I've gotten a lot of blues, strange coins, motes of light, and 1 legendary engram. I should make it to rank 3 tonight.

Have they been better this time around for anyone? I know they said they would, but is it noticable, or do you still feel starved?

It sounded to me that it wouldn't be better drop rates just better dropped items.

320 Armor rewards confirmed in IB (reply)

some people are getting 320 armor from the rank 5 package.

Also, If i'm reading that thread correctly, once you level up one character, your alts will get post-game drops at the same level as your main (if your main is at least a lvl 3, and you start running with your alt, your alt will get level 3 post game drops).

This makes me happy. This is a good way to actually get some high light level gear other than raids.
