Once you settle on a screen name the only way you can change it is to convince customer support or a mod to do it. It's a terrible policy, and I hope they change it one day.

So, I tried to do a throwback to my original XBL gamertag and HBO handle padraig08 (for full story see issue #791: Everyone hates padraig08) and was told it isn't allowed. Not sure if filtered out or taken.

So I am now MrPadraig08 (as per here and twitter)

Funny story, the reason I even thought of the Mr is because Canecutter would normal greet me entering an Xbox Live Party by saying Mr.Pawdraig

I can't wait to play with all of you soon :)
