Supposedly they fixed this though, making it to where they will take what you have into consideration on drops. I doubt this will prevent people getting the same thing a few times before they get something new, I believe it will not take 30+_ runs

I just don't like it. That's all. I don't know why people are treating this as if I said some kind of ultimatum or objective critique of Bungie's decision. All I ever said was that I don't like performance rewarded guns being part of a collection. I also don't like olives on pizza. Am I going to get messages saying "deal with it?"

It doesn't have to be objective critique for people to want to respond to you about it. You posted, they've posted in response. What were you expecting? For you to post this thought on a discussion board and for people to just nod and not respond? Or for their opinions to be watered down? If people were insulting you personally it would be different, it just looks like a lot of people are strongly disagreeing with you (some out of misunderstanding your initial point).

I for one don't think it's an issue at all to have them as collections. They are not a necessity to enjoy the game, it's not a quality of life issue, these collections are a luxury.

Now, if someone really doesn't like playing PvP but they feel forced to in order to earn a gun they want, that is a different issue. I totally get that frustration.

That's me. I don't hate the Crucible by any means, but I love PvE so much more that I don't run Crucible often. I don't even have the Chaperone quest (and I want that gun!) because I'm STILL not Crucible Rank 3.

I'll get there at some point, I'm sure.

As my good buddy can attest after more than 30 hardmode Templar kills with no Fatebringer to show for it. Probably it's more than that - for a long while there he was running the raid 3 times a week.

Oh, I'm totally with you :) Well, mostly. I'm ok with a little bit of RNG. I enjoy the "what did you get!?" moment at the end of a first run through a raid. But running the raid 30+ just to get a single item to drop is rediculous. Poor Speedracer had to watch me get like a dozen Mythoclasts before he got his first. A system like that is just discouraging all around :-/

1) It's not fair to have certain weapons locked behind tasks that some players aren't good enough to complete,

and

2) For those who feel certain rewards are out of reach, the kiosks serve as a constant reminder, which can sting a bit.

My main comment was that I disagree with point #1. I think it's great to have rewards that are challenging to earn, because it makes them special in a way they wouldn't be if everyone could easily get everything.

As far as point #2 goes, I don't feel the same way as Funkmon, but I totally see where he is coming from.

This means no one should feel like they *must* collect the challenge based reward exotic items in order to be competitive since they can plug in a different exotic instead and still be quite powerful.

They should not change that if the will of the people doesn't support it. If more people want public roads, we should have public roads. I would never support the government doing something the majority of people didn't want, like the privatisation of highways, but if you asked me if I liked public roads, I would say no.

No, it's not. He's stated VERY CLEARLY that he doesn't think Bungie should change this - just that he doesn't like it.

I suspect it's what Xenos said, he touched a nerve regarding the idea of fairness in rewards irrespective of skill. I think Funkmon feels that now that we have a way to track collections (if we choose!), it's worse than it use to be that some things can't be acquired by the lesser skilled. The great unwashed will feel worse than ever seeing what they're missing all the time (maybe?).

So there's several points, some of which may be misinterpretations--the idea that the game should distribute rewards evenly. Funkmon's assertion that kiosk screens constitute collections in themselves or that their existence forces people to collect. I suspect many people like the new kiosks and simply don't understand or can't relate to the criticism. (That's pretty much me.)

Regardless, Funkmon's a good bloke and the pushback has been a bit harsh, kind of like some of the exotic quests, I guess. :)

It just doesn't work that way, and would be terrible if it did. You think it's unfair that you can't have every exotic delivered on a silver platter (and maxed out, to boot), just because you want to have it?
What would challenge you, then?
What would drive you to be better?
What would you look forward to as a reward?

Some things are out of reach for people. We have people here that never got past the PvP portion of Thorn, some that got it in a couple of matches, and some who took months to finally succeed. It's a challenge that rewards the skilled, and a mountain for those less skilled to climb, but I can assure you that the people who had to struggle with the challenge felt a greater level of success than those who breezed through the PvP portion.

How would we feel about climbing Everest if there was a chairlift that dropped folks off at the top?

Changing the reward to Legendaries requires that they not be as good, otherwise you can have two exotic-tier weapons equipped at the same time, breaking what semblance of balance they DO have in the game.
