Calling it now - that game's going to need to be reinstalled.

So I logged in earlier today to grab the update, so I'd be able to play tonight.

Something went wrong with the update - I got a message saying that Destiny Compatibility Pack 8 was corrupted, and couldn't be installed. No worries - things go wrong. I eventually got back to the main screen, and hit A to start again.

I couldn't start again.

I was stuck at the 'confirming data' stage, pretty much permanently. (I let it go for quite a while before I started to look for alternatives.)

So... what should I do instead?

This just happened on my 360. At the Destiny splash screen I got a screen that honest to god looked like a Linux bootloader that said "oops something bad happens" then content verification fails, and it says "please re-download".

But there's no way to do that. Other than the way you did, by deleting the title update.

Okay... I found one incomplete "Destiny Compatibility Update #07" and cancelled the download,, then deleted the incomplete file. Destiny appears to be updating again now, although the "Something bad happened" bootloader screen still flashes on start.

This was bad thinking, not bad luck. (reply)

Shouldn't have been so cavalier about deleting stuff. :(

Are you sure? Not sure what else you could have done. MS support seems to answer "delete caches and title updates" when you have this kind of problem.... it may be that deleting that and re-downloading everything (probably everything since 1.0 by the sound of it) was the only way forward.

Yeah, so... (PSA - Don't Do This)

So I jumped over to System Settings, Storage - and saw there was a 'Destiny Title Update' item. Cool! I deleted it.

Fired Destiny back up, started the download - no problem! Got the whole 1.9 GB... and then it started downloading Compatibility Pack 7. Another 2 GB.

Sigh...

It's many hours later. I'm currently halfway through Compatibility Pack 5 - I guess I have another 10 GB to go or so.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get to play. :(
