Never. Green Thumb All The Way! (reply)

I've been a green thumb person ever since I got settled into Halo 1 and I thought I wouldn't be able to shift away effectively but the Destiny version of it was just too... I don't even remember now, but it didn't work for me, and I eventually got used to the default. It probably helped that I'd use some other control scheme a lot of the time when Forging so I could move up and down independently of zooming in and out, and that Destiny gives you more reason to aim when meleeing, especially as a Gunslinger.

Ok, bumper jumper moving the super off of the shoulder buttons to X (A for xboxers) might just be a deal breaker for me. I have a hard enough time aiming my nova bomb, I don't need the added difficulty of aiming without a thumb on the stick!

Never. Green Thumb All The Way! (reply)

Default treated me pretty good for the first few days, but then I finally went with Green Thumb in Destiny simply because I got sick of planting my thumb & having my character just looking instead of smashing his fist into my opponents skull. 10 years of green thumb is hard to unlearn. The real question will be if I can reprogram my jump & grenade muscle memory when I try bumper jumper. I think the grenade on the right bumper won't be as hard, but that jump on the left will be tough.

Destiny controls have ruined me for Halo 3 tho'. Instead of dominating my old roommates I find myself throwing grenades when trying to scope in.

I finally cracked after years of fighting it. (reply)

I've bitten my tongue as long as I could. Damnit, men and women of Bungie. Give us real customization for our goddamn button layouts.

Hear, hear!
Also please get rid of the player highlight, I've used it maybe ten times in the whole time I've had the game, and it's so finicky I'd rather go through a menu anyway. Then something useful could be put in that spot and we could have supers not require two buttons or triggers at the same time-- I can't tell you how many times failing to press them close enough together has gotten me killed, not to mention wasted grenades (partly my fault, partly the controller's fault, but also partly Bungie's fault for even requiring it).

For now... (reply)

Which is why I moved BACK to Default for Destiny. Jumping and shooting in Destiny is a real detriment in general. I guess you could gain some benefit while blink-shotgunning, but I wouldn't think it would be that much.

But some guns/armor in HoW have perks that may change that. Gotta be ready!

I also use VoC a great deal in PvP, and I immediately saw a difference. That weapon is still pretty accurate mid air. Some weapons are worthless up there for sure, though (FR's: not happening).

But accuracy plummets while you are in the air . . . (reply)

Yeah I almost exclusively use Blink in PvP so I wouldn't have even thought about better control with fluttering the jump. That would definitely be useful though, maybe I'll try it out for PvE.

Blink makes it moot (reply)

Because Blink Jump is essentially instantaneous you don't have to worry about switching a bumper to jump.

Blink is also better for PVP then floofing or double jump.

Even with Blink, there's a moment where you have to move your thumb back to the stick.

Try bumper jumper, and you'll immediately notice a subtle difference in terms of maneuverability (when you're not accidentally activating your super).

In Halo the move to BJ was definitely to aim/shoot while jumping. But for Destiny, at least for me. Its all about better control while in jumping. Take the Rusted Lands map in crucible for example. Both Control points B & C have those busted up two story buildings. For me, its much easier to get on top of those brick columns with bumper jumper. I can easily flutter my jump thrust while aiming where I want to go with the right stick. I find many folks don't look up there when they attack those points.
