IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is the most popular protocol for real-time, text based internet chat. There are IRC servers, and on each server there are multiple "channels" (i.e. chat rooms). A user would connect to an IRC server using an IRC client, then join one or more channels ("rooms") on that server.

Team Schooly D runs its own IRC server. On that server is a Destiny channel (named, appropriately, #destiny) specifically dedicated to Destiny chat. Discussion of news, forum posts, community goings-on, and organizing fireteams/playdates. In addition, TSD's custom IRC robot "TSDBot" will periodically notify the #destiny chat room when things happen on DBO: news posts, new forum threads, new fireteams, changes to fireteams, etc.

There are two ways to join:
