Step 1: Go to Mars Patrol
Step 2: Go to the black garden gate
Step 3: Kill all the things
Step 4: wait 30-45 seconds
Step 5: Repeat steps 3-4

If you really want to just farm Hydra, there's a faster option: go into the Black Garden, in the penultimate area (where you build a conflux from two points). Just as you get in there's a Hydra. Kill it, kill yourself, do it again. (Less than 30-45 seconds between iterations, and nothing else to kill.)

Farming's boring, though. Doing it for real's more fun. :)

Only the Hydra in the first room counts - the others are all Majors. :(

We were just talking about that this morning. I was lamenting the lack of progress on my Grimoire and thought I should have a lot more from this Strike alone. Didn't know that Majors don't count… :-\

Just run the first room in the Undying Mind strike. You fight like 4-6 Hydras. Once you kill them, go to orbit, rinse and repeat... If, you know, grinding for Grimoire score is your thing. (Heck, I'd be up for it).

I used to get mad at Nico for killing those Hydras before I could get a shot into 'em... but then realized they do me no good, grimoire-wise. :(

You get credit for your fire team's kills if you are close enough to them. No shots required. It seems to apply to random guys in patrol as well. As long as you are close, their kills are yours.

Doesn't apply in this case; we usually take up very different positions for that 3-wave battle. (I like the rock in front of the Hobgoblin cave. He likes the sniper perch where you come out from the caves.)

Me: "You're a crazy person for finding that many hydras."
Narc: "No, but I mean that is what it was at when I checked it last."
*checking mine*
Me: "Yeah, I'm still at 121, and we've killed at least 3 dozen since then."
Narc: "Must be laggy."
Me: "Yep."

We even had races to steal each other's hydra kills! AND FOR WHAT?! FUN? WHAT A WASTE!
