Scout with Firefly FTW (reply)

Also why on earth are you using a scout rifle on the abyss?! Fatebringer, a sniper, and an HMG makes it ezpz :-p. I'm sure once Cruel gets done with the video and we can add commentary we can add tips.

Horse shit. I can fire from the hip at head level and straight destroy 5-8 Thrall in a couple shots. Truly the definition of EZPZ, no?

I find it a lot easier to headshot at those ranges with fatebringer vs a firefly scout rifle. If you can do it, than it's a great choice.

Took MIDA with +2 and sword breaker with +2, max agility low recovery and armor hunter and didn't die on the way down. I don't know abut when you hit the bottom but my theory is you a traveling down a tube, and either the side walls are kill barriers, I know if i slide into the hole and my momentum carries me far forward I usually die, or they act like bumpers and by hitting them it speeds you up. Chickens and I had a run last week where we both randomly died seconds after jumping down and we couldn't find an explanation. Also if you look up from the bottom sometimes it looks like people are going to land way far off but then they slam into you and shoot you off into the boonies so maybe when you hit the "Darkness Zone" it readjusts your position to be above the plate?

I actually ran the Abyss with Gheleon's Demise (with Firefly) during our last normal run. I actually liked it quite a bit. The rest of our fireteam was nailing everything at close range, so I was able to focus on the enemies further back than usual. Fatebringer is a far better choice in most cases, but with the right fireteam a scout rifle can actually be very useful.

I actually noticed that you had that when last we played. I have one with a great roll and I STILL can't get it to kill stuff. Don't know how you did it.

As I said, it wasn't as effective as fatebringer, but it was great for picking off Thrall in the distance. You guys were doing such a good job dealing with everything up close, I just ignored the enemies that were right on top of me and focused on the path ahead or behind us.

MIDA (reply)

I drop down all the time with MIDA and have never died because of it.

It could be a combination of factors. For example, if you have your subclass spec'd out for high agility and recovery, but low armor, you might be too weak and too fast to survive the fall. Add Mida on top of that and who knows.
