It doesn't. The only thing that changes your iron banner rep gains are the tempered buff, class item, shader, and emblem.

Every source I've been able to find online has indicated this. It's a super easy thing to test, if you have doubts- Do nightfall. Get a 100 XP Iron banner bounty. Wait for tempered to wear off. Turn in bounty. Check XP increase.

Nightfall boosts Cryptarch, Eris, Vanguard, Crucible, and all Faction rep gains from both patrols and bounties. I'd be pretty surprised if it didn't boost IB as well. Frankly, as a permanent rank 5 IB player, I had always thought I was getting a boost from Nightfall, but the anti-posts here make me doubt that and wonder if only the Tempered buff helped. I'm not sure.

If I understand correctly, the buff you get from completing the Nightfall increases your XP gains for the next week, but has zero effect on reputation gains. Is that correct?

What I'm getting at: Does running the nightfall provide any benefit for raking up in the Iron Banner over the course of the week?

Nightfall does give you a reputation buff when doing patrols, bounties, etc... It does not affect the marks you earn though. With that said, I don't think it affects your Iron Banner rep gains.

I *think* that's incorrect. I'm pretty sure reputation gains get buffed as well. I'm almost always repping Dead Orbit and I'm pretty sure I get 31 rep for things that usually give 25 (without the Nightfall buff). That said, I guess I could be mistaken - and even if I'm not, this might not have the same impact on Iron Banner...
