If i am not mistaken you upgraded old exotic will have the same stats as the one Xur sells. Not sure if there are any differences.

It'll have the same perks, but the role is different (int-dis-str all roll on the RNG, so exotic armor pieces are not all equal).

I am enjoying this little forum meta-game you and he play with Xur's stuff every Friday morning.
