Sounds about right. It certainly isn't a scout rifle equivalent like the Grimoire card suggests, but it's noticeable.

Yeah. I don't think it does quite as much damage as the regular shotguns (though still enough to easily one-shot the smaller enemies). Its strength lies in being able to use it as a primary, and consequently almost never running out of ammo. Also, this:

Spread is definitely more focused when aimed. Enough to reliably hit a Phalanx's hand from medium range to stagger him, and one shot to the head to follow up.

The RoF is very slow, so you gotta learn the kill distance when scoped in or your opponent will finish you off before you get a second shot.

That's a bummer. I've received a fair amount of gear from vanguard, but it seemed like the faction rewards I got were rather lackluster, and usually just materials. Could just be RNG, it isn't a very representative sample size.

Strangely, all the armor I've picked up from Dead Orbit has been for different classes. I have an alt warlock who has ranked D.O. up to 8 now, and aside from Materials, he's received a Titan chest, arm and legs. No warlock armor though. That's it.

It varies each time. Recently I got a legendary void damage fusion rifle, which was a FANTASTIC drop because that was the one damage type I didn't have yet, in a fusion rifle.

So if factions besides Vanguard give crucible commendations, then I could rank up Dead Orbit but use the commendation to buy FWC stuff? Can you pass commendations through the vault?

Yes and yes. Just remember you won't get an upgrade package until after you hit L3 of any faction

They certainly have a chance, yes. My vault was completely filled with blue engrams and 2 purple engrams. I got a new purple pulse rifle that I don't care for, a sweet looking Hunter helmet (Raku Vindicator), and the blues I discarded immediately but I saw some unfamiliar names in there

This flavor text alone makes my spire form--not to mention that the armor had the exact same perks as my previous gauntlets but now it has a higher max light level and defense stat.

It's alot faster to rank up faction so do I get accommodations for that? Or is vanguard and crucible only.

I was watching my fiance play last night, and she ranked up her faction while turning in bounties, so she got a reward package to collect.

When she collected it, she was awarded an engram, piece of legendary armor, cloak, materials, and a vanguard commendation.

So, I would imagine that if you rank up with the cryptarc for example you might be randomly rewarded one.
