I beat the raid on hard first time through with a team of folks, each of whom was from a different country. We could only communicate by pointing, waiving, dancing, and of course sitting. It was amazing.

Bungie said communication and teamwork is key to beating the Raid! We started out Raid with five people. And we hardly communicated. Then we got a sixth. And it all went downhill from there. We died and got in each other's way endless times, but we still beat the Raid! Take that, Bungie!

And could you have done that right when the raid first came out, and nobody knew what to do? Don't know about you, but when we were figuring out how to damage the templar, and what the best way to fight him was, communication was very very helpful. I'm sure you are all geniuses and could have figured out how to tackle the gatekeeper without speaking to each other.
