It was weird when Canecutter and I figured out that we went to college together and were friends with the same people, but we never met until a Halo customs night.

There's one person I keep running into more consistantly than anyone else, only because (and pardon their GT) a name like "Autistic Mule" is hard to miss.

Anyone else found that they (semi-)consistently get matchmade with the same people in The Tower? I dont know if its set up to find local people or what, but theres one or two people I see running around in the tower fairly regularly (at least twice a week), and even more that I see less often, now that Im looking out for it.

It's actually kinda nice. It's like when you go out to the same bar/club/coffeeshop and over time you start to recognise some of the regulars. Makes me smile every time I recognise a stranger's Guardian.

There was a couple that I saw early on. They have matching PSN accounts, except his starts with Mr. And hers starts with Mrs... They were both Titans, and I first saw them on the Cosmodrone running patrol missions.
Over time, I've seen them get better and better gear, wearing matching Shaders.
The last time I saw them, they were in the tower, both with Raid gear, both 29... I waved at them, and they waved back... It was nice. It was also the last I've seen of them. It's been a couple of weeks. Maybe next time I see them, they'll be 30...

Also, pretty freaky story. An old college friend came to town for a couple of days, and spent the night with us. We were playing Destiny for a while, and after running a few Bounties, we went to the tower to turn them in. It was just going to be a quick stop, but when he went to decode some engrams, he stopped in his tracks. "Hey... I think this is Tyler." I ran over to him and saw the player that he was standing by... "Yeah, who else would ever come up with that stupid gamertag?"

The game had somehow matched us with another friend from our old college gaming group, even though I had no idea that he had a PSN account (we would play 360)... He was AFK, but when he returned we both waved at him, and he stopped moving. There was a really long pause... And then he sent us party invites...

What an odd series of coincidences...

On a serious note. Bungie tries to pair you with people closer to your area. I see a lot more people from Kansas than I've seen in other games by far.

Heh, but I think you might be right, at least with the locals bit. I've seen a couple guardian gamertags that were very local to my area. Sure, it could be somebody across the world referencing places in my city, but I doubt it. :P

I've noticed this too. No idea why it happens, but it certainly is interesting.
