Icebreaker regenerates ammo. You can't pick ammo up and you can't reload it. It get 6 shots, and regenerates those 6. You don't have to fire all 6 before they come back either. Plus it has a chance of returning a shot that misses directly to the magazine.

They regenerate fairly quickly too. It just felt like they regenerated even more quickly when chain of woe was active, but I need to test it more to see.

Plus kills cause the victim to explode. It's wonderful.

As far as I'm concerned, if I bust my ass to obtain a bunch of Strange Coins to buy something from Xur, then I earned whatever I bought. It seems like some people think they "earned" something by basically winning the Destiny lottery. You can suck in Crucible and still sometimes get good stuff, but someone else can completely dominate and get jack squat. Being rewarded by the RNG isn't "earning" anything. I think Exotics should never be dropped randomly and should all have to earned by earning SCs to buy from Xur or, even better, by completing Exotic bounties (which should be awarded for beating particularly difficult missions or otherwise have some guarantee of obtaining after putting in some real effort) or other side quests. I remember in old-school Final Fantasy you often had to complete side quests or beat powerful boss monsters to get the best gear. Getting Cecil's best sword in FFIV required finding a hidden passage and beating a boss who's almost on par with the final boss in terms of difficulty. If you're insufficiently leveled or use a bad strategy, he will wipe your party out, but it's totally worth it.

Though, in all honesty, I do think that it is more the general delusion found in some corners of the net than anything about the game itself.

If you think having a random number generator give you an item is earning it, then I think you need to speak to Inigo Montoya. One could just as easily say that I earned my Ice Breaker because I got 19 strange coins from completing the weekly strikes, which took skill.

Bought it myself today. Seems like it'll come in handy during Strikes.

During the raid too. Shoot off six shots on the templar / atheon while they are vulnerable, then by the time you can hurt them rolls around again you have more ammo.

It made today's heroic story with juggler skull laughingly easy. Plus the gate lord dropped really fast with it. The only problem is that I can't use it and The Last Word together because they're both exotics.

Correct. Doesn't reload, bullets just regen in chamber every 2-4? seconds or so with a max of 6.

I should say, in mag, not in chamber.

That being said, the Icebreaker is FANTASTIC.

Indeed. I tried it out for a few minutes this morning. I need to test it more, but I think the gunslinger's chain of woe, which speeds up reloads, makes the ammo regenerate faster. I don't know if it's true, but it felt that way. Either way, this is now my official boss fight sniper.
