Presumably to offset the incredibly low cost. I actually have no issue with it in this instance, because unlike the Queen's Wrath missions you get to pick gear you want from the vendor, rather than relying on the RNG.

The whole thing is ridiculous. Salvage is a sometimes-weekend-only playlist. The vehicle playlist has less vehicles than normal playlists. Iron Banner is a huge waste of time that serves no purpose once you have Raid gear, and is definitely inferior to regular Crucible unless you want some Shaders. I just see continuous poor decisions being made by Bungie on the Crucible front.

I'll stick with normal Crucible because it's quite enjoyable. Hopefully they come to their senses and add in some more permanent playlists. But whatever. They won't.

Or is Raid gear the best of the best? General armor doesn't make it possible to hit level 30, and if Iron Banner isn't going to make it possible, I don't see how it's worth my time.

You only get rep if your team wins too. Quitting by the team that begins to lose is rampant apparently.

It was confirmed this morning that it's just regular Legendary Gear and it doesn't hold 30 Light. So right now raid gear is the only way to hit Rank 30. If you ask me it's a bunch of crap, all this crap about how your character will be unique etc when end every class will be wearing the one same armor set till the Activision DLC train comes rolling through. Maybe with the DLC I can get the snoop dog package to change my ghost voice to Snoop, and some space gangster armor.

I haven't seen anything concrete, but the general thought is that Iron Banner gear is the PvP equivalent of PvE's Raid gear. It would make sense for both to bring you to level 30.
