I don't really understand your thinking. I'm willing to pay $60 for Halo 2 with updated graphics and online co-op and as a bonus I get access to some shiny versions of titles I already own, but will now be able to play without keeping old consoles plugged in.

Ah, well there's the difference. I don't have an Xbox One, just a 360 (and an original lying in a storeroom somewhere). Every Halo game I have is playable on 360, with the exception of Halo 2.

Assuming this guy is a fake and what he says is all fictitious, what is the alternative? That this is indeed exactly the game Bungie always intended to make and that they a) are surprised by the reaction, or b) knew they simply did a poor job of it and shipped it anyway?

I don't think that's the part that Bungie would be denying. It's the "details" that are the troll part about it. If Bungie reacts like they have before they will admit there were missteps, it just won't be now, and it won't be in a AMA on Reddit (or in reaction to one) from an anonymous Bungie employee.

Regardless if you like Halo 4 or not, $60 for 4 singleplayer campaigns, 5 multiplayer modes, 3 forge modes, 100 multiplayer maps, Halo 5 Beta, and Halo nightfall is a freaking steal. Complaining about the inclusion of a game you dislike when you can easily just not play those specific gametypes is simply nitpicking at the extreme.

In the end though, Halo 4 imo is a much better game than Destiny.

Maybe I focused too much on that in my post. What I meant is that the vast majority of this content is stuff that I aready own, so it doesn't make sense to be buying it all again, even if the price is reduced. There is only one thing in there that I need or want, so even at a low price, I'm also considering that if I'm going to be creating any demand, I want it to be for the product I'm interested in, and not the other stuff.

I'm also not trying to compare Halo 4 and Destiny. That's a whole other can of worms, and I've already posted a lot on my problems with Destiny. I wouldn't venture to compare the two even in my head, and I don't know how that would turn out. But I am comparing it to the rest of the Halo series, and in that respect I have a lot of irreconcilable problems with it. But yeah, that's neither here nor there. I would just prefer to buy an updated Halo 2 separately because I have bought pretty much everything else in the collection at least once, except for the beta of a game that I'm not interested in.

I'm not sure what I want to be true. I'd like to believe Bungie can still create engaging content and that they haven't lost the spark.

Not sure of the validity of this "source", but might be worth a look to anyone who is interested. Seems to make sense, but also seems to simply be confirming what a lot of theories tend to hypothesize. Grain of salt?

All I can say is this: IF it is indeed a troll, it is a very very good one. Many of the things mentioned are very much plausible for the video game industry, and would explain so much of the current result that is Destiny. Context changes everything.

Outside of the Ark, Voi and the basic premise of Halo 3, no I don't believe so. The majority of Halo 3's storyline was written and decided on after Halo 2 was released.

Not really. When the development crisis hit, Halo 2's original plot wasn't just truncated, it was very heavily modified.

That's not an excuse. Chapter 1 doesn't make sense nor is it gripping on an emotional level.
