They're a good way to earn a little extra XP and Glimmer. They can be a bit repetitive, but I have found them very enjoyable when I just wanna scurry around Old Russia.

Hot the back button and all the mission beacons in your are will show icons on your hud. Makes it easier to see them.

Yeah, they've been there the whole time. They don't bash you over the head with it; they just give you a little HUD prompt and that's it.

They've always been there. That's what you do for XP in explore mode.

I only came across them last night. Were they available earlier?

It proved to be a more enjoyable way to deal with busy work. We over did it a bit though, for a trio of gents aged 50-60. Damn tired out afterwards.

Beacons kind of indicated the power Bungie wields with features like this. Today we turn on special feature #9, tomorrow #S117.
