The Sacrifice

Darkness marches, it’s tendrils engulf us.

Safety vanished, fear ignites us.

Our wanderer brought them, it’s presence damned us.

Weapons in hand, resistance drives us.

Conquerors above, their superiority crushes us.

Our efforts bested, the Traveler shields us.

Forlorn hope in heart, civilization discovers us.

Tools in hand, our walls encircle us.

Gunsmiths at work, courage rearms us.

Guardians forged, our foes fear us.

Our watcher above, it’s sacrifice saved us.

As darkness returns, the only thing stopping it; is us.
