Hopefully it's a 2013 release, but the Activision comment makes we wonder.

The Activision press release that I posted this morning has this to say:

Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result.

Sad story, I know...

Are they only available at Gamestop? Amazon didn't mention any exclusive incentives.

The very idea of them sucks.

To me preordering means:

• not forgetting to order it
  
• will arrive on time
  
• possibly cheaper if price rises b4 release

Those are sufficient reasons to preorder.

Only problem is, should stores be restricted from offering exclusive bonuses to encourage people from pre-ordering from *their* store and not from others? If every store offers POs, they'll want to find a way to get people to order (to buy) from them. Otherwise it's a huge lost opportunity. Pre-ordering in a sense is part of store marketing.
Not that I'm defending this PO bonus. but I don't think perks themselves are a Bad Thing. I do think it's incredibly frustrating tho, the more valuable and exclusive they are :P

What stores should do is offer their pre-order perk independently at a higher price after the game is released. That way if someone wants two stores' bonuses but not pre-order twice, they can get the one they want more, get the bonus (free with game) then buy the other bonus from the other store, and not feel they're missing out. Everyone wins then.

Of course, that presumes the bonuses are worth paying for in the first place :P

Pre-order bonuses are the worst things to happen in the game industry as far as in-game content and advantages are concerned. A wallpaper? That I can handle.

Oh, I wasn't saying it was a great preorder bonus, but I was just saying that the Amazon page did mention something. I bet the actual early-order incentives may still be ironing themselves out.
